How To Deal: Tinkling on the Bed

Brianna is at that age when she doesn't have to wear diapers anymore. I am one proud mom, hearing her say that she needs to peepee or do number 2 and go to the toilet instead of just doing it anywhere right when she feels it coming. But alongside this milestone is a problem...tinkling on the bed. So here's my question for the week:

How do you deal with kids tinkling on the bed in the middle of the night?

Not that Brianna does this every night but she does every once in a while even though I make her go before she sleeps. I want to end it altogether so I don't get all weepy over newly-changed sheets in the middle of the night.

So, do you have any tips for me, mommies?

  1. I'd love to know what moms have to share about this too. My baby is just 8 months old and I know I'll experience this is the future.

    1. I do pero I can't predict when she'll pee pag tulog kami. Lately though di naman na siya nagw-wiwi sa bed pag gabi. :)

    1. Actually, potty training naman madali lang but I can't "train" her when she's asleep kasi that's why I'm asking for tips. :)

    1. Before Brianna turned 3 naman, ayaw na niya magdiaper so wiwi lang everywhere then eventually, nagsasabi na siya and nakakapigil na ng onti til we get to the restroom. Minsan lang nagwwiwi siya sa bed na mej mahirap kasi we live in a small room kaya nagsstick yung stink. :|

  5. We potty trained our eldest when he was 8 months old, we would only use cloth diapers during the day because he gets to say when he needed to go number two. I didn't mind him peeing in them. Fast forward to now, he only wears pull ups for nap time and sleeping time at night just in case he forgets. He's 3 years and (almost) 8 months now. Around 2-3 months ago, he'd frequently have accidents/leaking episodes at night. We pointed it to having a new baby at home, baka unconsciously seeking for attention. So yes, palit talaga ng bed sheets. Misan palit pa ng mattress 'coz it's wet talaga.

In the morning, we'd ask him if he remembers that he peed in his diaper the night before and how we had to change his sheets/bed. Constant reminder na "If you need to pee, you have to get up and tell Mom or Dad, ok? So you don't wet your bed." Paulit ulit talaga! And every time he'd get up at night to pee, we say "Good job baby!" no matter how sleepy we are. Now he rarely pees in his diaper. SIguro once a week lang, on nights that he was extra tired during the day. Can't blame the kid for not getting up. :)

    1. Wow, 8 months old! Galing ng baby niyo! :) Si Brianna kasi 2, turning 3 na napotty train. Hehe. :)) And I agree, "good job" goes a long, long way when it comes to kids. :) Time to have a talk with the bebe again. Gayahin kita. Hehe. Thanks for the tip, Mommy!

  6. My son stopped wearing diaper before he reached 3 yrs old. Takot din ako nun alisin diaper kasi baka magwiwi sa gabi pero may time kasi na malinis diaper sa morning so inumpisahan ko na alisin diaper. There were accidents sa gabi pero nagigising siya dahil wet siya and ayaw niya ng feeling so after few accidents gigising na siya para magwiwi pero habang tumatagal, pag gising na lang talaga niya sa morning siya wiwi. Mahirap sa umpisa kasi palit ng bedsheet pero in time matututo din sila.

Sabi ng iba, pag nagmilk pa yung bata sa gabi, mas lalong maihiin. Some of my friends naman, ginigising sa gabi para lang magwiwi yung anak.

    1. Ah okay. So talagang "maphphase out" lang yung pagwiwi sa bed minsan no? :) I don't want to wake her up naman in the middle of the night kasi mabibitin tulog niya, knowing her. Hehe. Thank you for the tips, Mommy!

  7. I still allow my kids to wear diapers at night. Minsan kasi napuputol ang tulog nila if I don't. Kaya what I do, I don't let them wear disposable nappies during their afternoon nap. I think instinct narin nila, especially my eldest since she wakes up naman :)

  8. Naku my daughter is just 2 so hindi pa siya naalis sa diaper. I wanted to wait until she is ready. She is beginning to say that she needs to go to the toilet. I think that is a good sign ; )

  9. Nice topic :) Graduate na si Yuri wearing nappy, si Yana na lang and Yvan. Well potty trained nanaman si Yana kaso hindi siya nagising talaga sa madaling araw just to pee. Ang hirap naman these days magpatuyo ng mattress :) Kahit nag-wee sya before bedtime, eh malakas parin mag-wee as in puno cloth nappy niya kahit 3 layer pa ng inserts so Yvan is a heavy wetter. Darating din yan sis sa point na makakaya na niya hindi magwee sa bed :) Good luck :)
