How To Deal: iPads

Technology is something that we all can't seem to get enough of nowadays. We see tons of people - if not all - engrossed with what's displayed on their mobile phones, tablets, laptops, what-have-yous everywhere we go. Not that it's a bad thing - at least for me - but sometimes it looks...wrong, especially if you see kids stare at the games they're playing on their iPads instead of running around with other kids.

My daughter is not much of a people-person, which is totally fine for me since I, myself, isn't one. Given that, she always ALWAYS have her (my) iPad with her. She can't even eat without it. I don't really have a problem with it; it's just that there are times when I feel kind of 'shy' having people see her like that when we're in restaurants so my question is this:

How do you deal with your children and their gadgets, in general?

Like, do you reprimand them for spending 70% of the time with their tablets or do you just let them do their own thing? I know a lot of parents have this problem and most, probably, have the same dilemma I have. We all need solutions for this, people!

  1. It used to be my problem but we already set rules in our house. My son is only allowed to use the ipad during weekends. Even it is a holiday or no classes, he will not use the ipad if it is not Saturday or Sunday. :)

  2. This isn't a problem to me yet since our baby is just 8months old but it could be in the future. Anyway, we have a tab instead of an iPad and I hope I can control him in the future too.

  3. My son is 4 and he started using the tablet a year ago. Hubby and I have agreed that he's only allowed to use it for a few minutes at home, no exceptions. We explained to him that it would ruin his eyes (of course we have other reasons bakit haha).Earlier he would whine when his time's up, but we didn't give in to what he wanted. I guess he got used to only using it for less than 30 minutes that now even if we don't remind him the time, he sets a limit to himself. I think it all boils down mommy on consistency and how you are going to set your limits and let your cutie baby know when it's ok and not ok to use the iPad.
