Currently disappointed at OLX.

I have been an OLX (previously known as Sulit.com.ph) member since 2012, according to my profile:

and I haven't experienced any problems with them...until now.

I started selling brand new stuff I haven't used as well as preloved items when I realized that they've been taking up too much space in my small room. Most of them I'm too hesitant to actually throw away because I still haven't used them or they're still too pretty to be in the trash bin.

As I've mentioned, I didn't encounter any problems with them for a full 4 years and a few months after. The problem started just last week, when I was reposting a new ad.

An ad's life is around 7 days before OLX notifies you that it will be temporarily taken off their listings. It was fine before 'cause you just update your ad and the site'll do just that. When I updated my ad a few days ago, this happened:

They were asking me to pay for new ad slots for a hundred Pesos a pop which is totally unfair because #1:

This isn't true now, is it?

and #2, PHP100? Seriously? That's way too much, I think. For people who earn as much as I do, it's way too much to ask. Plus, the reason why people like me go to sites like this is to sell our stuff online so we can earn extra income but how can we do that if we sell, say, a top for a hundred Pesos but the money we earn from it goes to OLX a number of posts from now? Balewala lang ang sale.

I've also been looking for venues where I can air my sentiments but couldn't find any e-mail address I can contact so I resorted to posting a tweet on my personal Twitter account, tagging them, but still haven't gotten any response.

Has anybody else experienced this, too, and did a person from the OLX team explain to you what's happening? Please share it in the comment section because I rely on my OLX account for additional income. I really need all the help I can get, fellow stay-at-home moms.

  1. I've also had the same sentiments, i could feel you. I really had to roll my eyes after reading the Php100 charge for posting at OLX. I mean, seriously? And it's non refundable pa. I'm trying out other sites na lang. No way am I ever going to pay 100 bucks. Lipat na lang ako sa ibang site.

    1. Hi Vance! Thinking of opening another account with a different site, too. I won't pay for the 100 pesos as well. Their loss.

  2. Gosh! That means you can post up to twice lang? It would be a wee bit understandable if the ad's life is one month.

    1. I guess, now, yeah. That's a total of 14 days. Ibig sabihin, 14 days lang life ng free ads ngayon sa OLX. So disappointed.

  3. If OLX doesn't do something about this, they are surely going to lose members.

  4. I am also a member of olx and have sold my items there also. I haven't returned for quite sometime now though and I am just about to post more things this week. After reading this news, ugh! I don't like it at all. Let me know if you've found a better alternative. :)

    1. Nakakaturn-off, right? I guess AyosDito's a better site. Or Facebook since almost everyone's there. :)

  5. Ngek, may ganyan na ngayon. I sold some items through olx, too. Usually, paisa isa lang post ko, pero for some who sells a lot at a time, dagdag gastos pa yan, sayang din ang 100.

    1. Super hassle talaga for people like me who sell plenty of stuff online. Sayang yung 100 PER AD.

  7. I have been a fan of olx because of me being kuripot. Didn't have the chance to post a product but will keep this in mind. there is also a need to double check or validate the sellers because some are bogus. Thanks for sharing this!

  8. My last post was last year, but for them to add P100, well, wala ka na tlgang kikitain. :(
Change ka na lang ibang site..and I'd like to see your items too. :)

    1. Super especially if you're selling second hand stuff. Wala nang kikitain. Will definitely move to another site. Just thinking of which site. :)

  9. Seriously, OLX? Hello, eBay is much bigger company and totally free (as far as I know). And they already learn a lot from commercial advertisers. Pano kung less than P100 ang ibebenta? Eh di lugi ka pa?

    1. Yun nga e. Most of my items are secondhand kaya lugi talaga if I pay for an ad spot. :( I hope they lift this kasi malaki ang reach ng OLX and madaling gamitin.

  10. It's my sis in law who is into OLX and selling our items. She did not mention and it's now that I know about the Php100 charge.

  11. Way asking too much. I could imagine tons of OLX members would be paying for a hundred bucks, it would turn into millions and for 14 days? Non-refundable? tsk tsk.... I guess OLX should start diverting some strategies now or they will be losing their members. In fact, they are not the only online company who offers this kind of services, other company offers for FREE. I mean, really FREE of CHARGE. hehehe

    1. That's true! They will lose tons of members if they don't do anything about this.

  12. Oh dear. I recently just started experiencing the wonders of OLX. I hope this doesn't happen to me (and that your concerns get resolved somehow)

  13. Nyaaaay. I was considering posting pa naman on the site. Might as well start looking for some other place to sell stuff.

    1. Yes, just find another site. There are plenty of sites out there that don't ask you to pay for anything in terms of membership and posting ads.
